I’m crazy about leopard prints, I think its such a classic print and when worn properly it looks a million bucks. A lot of people are weary of the print on account that it can be a tad bit over powering, especially if you’re going to go leopard to leopard.
The trick is to break it down with another color and to wear it sparingly. In other words if you’re wearing a full leopard dress wear red shoes, or orange shoes as long as its not the same shade as the print on account that the dress is already powering. You want to create a visual impact not an eyesore. I wouldn’t wear a leopard print dress with black shoes, it would feel too lady of the night ish… The more you play around with color the better your over all look will turn out.
You basically add little bits of it, and build on from there, for instance if you’re wearing yellow jeans with a leopard shirt you would then wear black shoes.
The “math” here is that the yellow picks up on the brown on the print and naturally on the black.
Another example if you’re going to wear let’s say an orange shift dress, you would add a leopard print belt and then nude/flesh toned shoes. The math here,is that orange complements leopard very well because of the brown on the print, now that you have that match, consider another shade that will compliment orange. In this case I went with Nude. You don’t want to go bright on bright with leopard, it can go very wrong.
To summarize, you need colors that compliment the print then colors that compliment the color you chose to compliment THAT color
i.e. orange compliment leopard print and nude compliments orange. See? Its that simple.
And you don’t always have to wear three colors, just two is also enough. I just like the visual impact of three colors (that does not translate to ridiculous color blocking, just subtle blocking)
So don’t be afraid of leopard.
Or take it one bit at a time,
Either way learn to love it, its classic, chic and timeless and its very…very…very…very… Sexy!
